‎ ‎Monrovia, Liberia – November 13, 2025- The Governance Commission (GC) of Liberia is pleased to announce that it has received a formal invitation from the West Africa Young Parliamentarians Network (WAYPA) to participate in a series of high-level engagements, culminating in the official launch of the network in Ganta City, Nimba County. ‎ ‎The invitation was extended to Professor Alaric Tokpa, Acting Chairman of the Governance Commission, by the Secretariat of WAYPA, in collaboration with the Youth Network for Positive Change (YOUNETPO). ‎ ‎The invitation pleaded with the commission to host a delegation of young parliamentarians from Sierra Leone, Gambia, Nigeria, Senegal, and Guinea Bissau at its offices in Monrovia on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. This high-level meeting will serve as a platform for the Commission to articulate its mandate, showcase its key achievements, and discuss challenges in national governance. The visiting delegation will also share the mission and objectives of the newly formed WAYPA. ‎ ‎Furthermore, the Commission is honored to confirm that the Civic Engagement, National Identity, and Visioning will serve as a distinguished panelist in the official launch ceremony of WAYPA. The high-level panel discussion, themed "Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Youth Political Participation, Entrepreneurship, and Representation in Decision-Making," will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Jackie's Hotel in Ganta. ‎ ‎The West Africa Young Parliamentarians Network (WAYPA) emerged from the 6th edition of the Annual Youth Education and Leadership Conference in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. Its mission is to empower and unite young parliamentarians across the West African sub-region to collaboratively advocate for the adaptation and implementation of policies that serve the interests of youth. ‎ ‎The Governance Commission views this collaboration as a strategic and timely initiative that aligns with its mandate to promote good governance, inclusive participation, and national development. Engaging with this dynamic cohort of regional young leaders is crucial for shaping policies that address the aspirations of the youth demographic in Liberia and the region.
