WAYPA Urges Youth Representation as Governance Commission Pledges Support Monrovia, Liberia — November 20, 2025 Hon. Abdoulaye Mjai, leader of the visiting West Africa Young Parliamentarian Network delegation, urged greater youth representation in lawmaking, insisting young people must shape policy as well as implement it. He called their participation essential to the region’s future and pledged close collaboration with the Governance Commission to advance good governance and youth engagement. Hon. Mjai, believed to be one of Sierra Leone’s youngest parliamentarians, made the remarks at the launch visit for WAYPA in Liberia. Acting Chairman Prof. Alaric Topkpa praised WAYPA as a tribute to West African leadership and pledged the Commission’s full support, citing alignment with ECOWAS and African Union ideals. Executive Director Hon. Jallah C. Kesselly welcomed the delegation, invited them to regard Liberia as a home for pan African solidarity, and expressed optimism that the meeting would strengthen working ties. The talks centered on deepening cooperation between the Governance Commission and WAYPA and on advancing youth-led governance across the subregion.
