GC joins united front to power AAID's national call to action
Monrovia, Liberia - The Governance Commission (GC) has joined other government ministries and agencies in pledging unwavering support for the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) call-to-action plan.
Stakeholders from across different sectors, representing the six pillars of the AAID, including development partners, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, unanimously endorsed the action plan at the official launch of the AAID Coordination Mechanism at the Monrovia City Hall.
The call to action plan pledged stakeholders' and development partners' commitments to strengthen coordination and leadership, take collective action, mobilize resources, prioritize actionable results, foster collaboration and knowledge sharing, renew political and institutional support, and ensure accountable reporting.
"This call to action is a collective declaration to consolidate gains, overcome bottlenecks, and ensure that the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development becomes a living instrument for transformation and deliver tangible results for every Liberian", Hon. Wellington Barchue, Assistant Minister for Development Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, declared.
During the event, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), which leads national development planning and coordinates the AAID, presented general progress reports for all pillars, with economic transformation, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and governance and anti-corruption all scoring highly for implementation.
The chair of Pillar-4 of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), the Governance Commission, received special commendation for coordinating the pillar's affairs.
The Governance Commission chairs the governance and anti-corruption pillar of the AAID and comprises over 12 government ministries and agencies, as well as the European Union in Liberia.
The Governance Commission was represented at the Tuesday program by its Acting Chair, Professor Alaric Tokpa, and the Executive Director, Hon. Jallah C. Kesselly.
